WSSD Summer Panthers and Extended Day Program Director 

The Summer Panthers and Extended Day Program is designed for students, ages 5-20, with significant needs.  The extended school year program has been designed to include both academic instruction, community based instruction and recreational/socialization activities.  The program will include weekly social skills training, field trips and recreational activities.   The program runs 6 hours (8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) per day, four days a week, for five consecutive weeks.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the Summer Panthers and Extended Day Program, July 6 – August 5, 2021, Monday through Thursday
• Lead the development of the program and implementation of instruction
• Supervise classroom operations/program
• Coordinate daily schedules and make necessary staffing adjustments, including assignments of instructional assistants
• Oversee daily transportation
• Oversee timesheets and submit to Special Education Office on bi-weekly basis
• Coordinate student schedules with related service providers
• Manage the school space used for the program
• Oversee the implementation of IEP’s and development of progress reports
• Provide behavior support and oversee the implementation of behavior plans
• Report to the Directors of Special Education and Supervisor of  Special Education
• Collaborate with the Director of Elementary and Secondary Summer Program online programming and license usage/assignments
• Provide two day staff orientation, prior to start of program (June 22 and 23)

Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and teachers

• Knowledge and experience working with complex special needs students
• Valid Pennsylvania Special Education Teaching Certificate
• Special Education Supervisory or Administrative Certificate preferred
• Fiscally Responsible
• At least three years teaching experience, Wallingford-Swarthmore employee preferred
• Prior experience preferred

Salary:      $8,470
