WSSD Elementary and Secondary Summer Program Director

The Elementary and Secondary Summer Program is designed for WSSD students entering first through eleventh grades who are eligible for reading and/or math intervention based upon pre-determined criteria. It will be 4 hours (8:00 a.m. - noon) per day for 4 consecutive weeks, 4 days a week, Monday through Thursday.  In this program students will receive daily direct reading and math instruction at the appropriate level; engage in independent reading; develop their writing; and receive related services as outlined in the Individual Education Plan.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the Elementary and Secondary Summer Program, July 6-July 29, 2021; Monday through Thursday
• Lead in the development of the program and the implementation of instruction
• Assist in the hiring of qualified staff
• Coordinate daily schedules and make necessary staffing adjustments
• Set-up, coordinate, and oversee daily transportation
• Oversee timesheets and submit to Special Education Office on bi-weekly basis
• Coordinate related services and tutoring schedule
• Manage the school space used for the program
• Oversee the implementation of IEP's and development of progress reports
• Provide behavior support and oversee the implementation of behavior plans
• Report to the Directors of Special Education and Supervisor of  Special Education
• Provide two day staff orientation, prior to start of program (June 22 and 23)
• Serve as point of contact for parents of students within the program
• Coordinate online programming and license usage/assignments
• Coordinate the use of online platforms and tasks/materials associated with the platforms

Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and students
• Knowledge and experience working with special needs students
• Valid Pennsylvania Special Education and Elementary Teaching Certification
• Special Education Supervisory or Administrative certificate preferred
• Fiscally responsible
• Prior experience preferred

Salary: $5,700
