POSITION VACANCY

MAINTENANCE WORKER

Construction Trade - Carpenter

Position available immediately 

 

Responsibilities:

The SCHOOL CARPENTER provides routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair of the district buildings and equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Expertly repair and maintain district buildings and equipment.
  2. Install, repair, and maintain district locks, including the cutting of keys and maintaining the key management plan.
  3. Experience with or knowledge of using stationery and hand-powered tools.
  4. Experience with the installation of framing, drywall, taping, millwork, painting, acoustical ceiling and grid, carpet, and tile.
  5. Ensure timely response to all work orders through the regular checking and update of the district’s job tracking software (FMX).
  6. Carry out the assigned components of the preventive maintenance program, such as changing filters and oiling equipment.
  7. When necessary, assist with the delivery of Emergency Services.
  8. Immediately report to the supervisor of operations any unsafe conditions, fire hazards or equipment failures on the day they are discovered.
  9. Assist other Operations Department personnel with snow removal and salting operations. 
  10. Provide custodial functions in the event that a custodian is not available.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with associates and the public
  • Basic knowledge of WSSD district facilities preferred
  • Demonstrated expereience in building maintenance and repair
  • State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI Background Checks
  • Valid PA Driver's License
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable
